New Smyrna Chevrolet Golf Tournament
- A Premiere Event!
|
New Smyrna Chevrolet presents the New Smyrna
Chevrolet Golf Tournament to benefit Sacred
Heart School on Saturday, November 1, 2008
at the NSB Municipal Golf Course. A shotgun
start will be held at 8:00 a.m.
The
dealership will also award an automobile for
a hole-in-one prize. The fun-filled
day won't be an ordinary charity golf
tournament. Featured are:
- great prizes for the first place
team, closest to the pin and longest drive
- students serving as forecaddies
- delightful handmade tee gifts and
homemade goodies
- The
Star Spangled Banner performed by one
of our talented students
- Each
player will receive 2 tickets to Sunday's
final round of the Ginn Sur Mer Classic,
a PGA
Tour event.
Foursomes are still available for $225,
which includes 18 holes of golf, cart fees,
and lunch. There are many sponsorship
packages available, and all proceeds will go
directly to the Sacred Heart School PTO.
Registration forms are available at the NSB
Municipal Golf Course, the Sacred Heart
School and Parish offices (428-4732), or by
calling event chairperson, Andrea Truslow at
428-4103.
Special thanks to Brett and Li Hartley for
helping us secure a title sponsor and very
special thanks to Jack Holcomb, owner of New
Smyrna Chevrolet, for supporting our school.

Parent Postcard - A weekly posting
from our counselor, Sandy Bass
|
Dear
Parents,
Effective communication with your child is
an imperative part of raising and parenting
children. This is one component of the
connection/bonding that takes place in the
child's development and directly has an
effect on how one learns to assimilate
thoughts and feelings and is also an
intricate part of the problem-solving
sequence. There are 5 techniques for
effective communication with children.
Technique #1: ACTIVE LISTENING
This means pausing from doing whatever task
you happen to be doing at that moment and
putting full attention into what your child
is trying to express to you. This teaches
the child that his/her thoughts, opinions
and feelings matter. It also models for them
how you would like to be heard too.
(Look for Technique #2 in next week's
newsletter)

FYI...
|
*** Our girls volleyball teams have only two
more regular season games to play. If you
haven't
yet had a chance to come out and watch
them play, you're missing some good
volleyball!
Our games this Saturday are at 9:00
a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Come out and cheer on
our teams!
*** Sacred Heart School will be represented
at the Venetian Bay Art Festival this
Saturday.
Many thanks to the PTO Executive Board
and parent volunteers who will promote our
great school in the community.
*** The middle school will have a Halloween
dance on Saturday, October 25th from 7-10
p.m. in
the gym. Costumes are encouraged, but
please be aware that they still must comply
with
general school dress code rules. No
costumes depicting realistic violence,
excessive gore
or promiscuity will be allowed.
Remember...if you have to ask if it's
appropriate, it's
probably not.
*** If you are looking for a service
hour opportunity and you like gardening and
yard work, please
contact Ann Smith through the school
office. She can always use help with the
lovely
landscaping she does around the school.
